When it comes to our favourite sweet treats, we all have plenty to say! We could while away the hours talking about yummy food and this often leads to questions. We’ve put together this Q&A blog to address any queries you may have about our delicious selection of brownies - plus some generic brownie questions that you may want to know the answers to as well…
One of the things you may be wondering at this time is if our service will be affected if the UK goes back into lockdown? The answer to that is no. Although many services were affected during the COVID-19 lockdown period in the spring, we’re pleased to say we weren’t one of them. We were busier than ever, supplying gifts and treats to customers’ friends, loved ones and colleagues at a time when simply leaving the house was impossible! So if we find ourselves in lockdown again you can rest assured we will carry on baking!

When it comes to brownies, there are some things that you just need to know! Wonder no more, read on and be enlightened!
Are brownies meant to be gooey?
We believe a slightly crunchy outside and a gooey inside is the key to the perfect brownie. Many brownies we’ve tasted over the years have had either a biscuit or cake texture, but we guarantee all brownies from The Homemade Brownie Company will be as they should – slightly crunchy on the outside and deliciously gooey in the middle!
What brownie flavours do you offer?
The Homemade Brownie Company supplies 14 different flavours as standard: Classic, Salted Caramel, Chocolate Orange, Classic Blondie, M&M, Snickers, Peanut Butter, Nutella Blondie, Double Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, Blondie Brownie, Lemon Blondie, Mint Chocolate and Fruit & Nut.
What occasions do you cater for?
Our brownies are suitable for any occasion! Whether you simply fancy a tasty treat, need a pick me up or wish to mark a special event, our brownies fit the bill! Common occasions marked with brownies include: birthdays, anniversaries, christenings, engagement parties, weddings, corporate events and meetings, seasonal events such as Christmas, Valentine’s and Easter, baby births (for the parents!) and as new home / congratulations gifts.
How long do brownies last?
We use only the finest quality ingredients at The Homemade Brownie Company, so when you buy a gluten free brownie delivery from us it will stay fresh for 2 weeks at room temperature.
Can you freeze brownies?
Our postal brownies are perfect for freezing and once frozen they’ll stay fresh for 3 months. We recommend wrapping them individually when freezing. Simply defrost them at room temperature and they’ll be ready for eating.
What’s in them?
The all-important question! Most of us like to know what we’re putting into our bodies and when you discover our quality ingredients, you won’t be disappointed! We cater for all diets, so rest assured that those with food intolerances/preferences can safely indulge too!
What ingredients do you use?
The ingredients of each of our brownies is slightly different depending on the flavour, but the base ingredients include: dark chocolate, eggs, butter, sugar, gluten-free flour and baking powder. Every product sent out comes complete with a detailed list of ingredients and allergens. Are your brownies gluten-free?
Yes - many other brand brownies aren’t gluten-free, but we ensure all our ingredients are 100% free from gluten.
Are your brownies suitable for vegetarians?
Absolutely! We also offer a vegan range.
What are your vegan brownies made of?
There are many different vegan brownie recipes out there and we’ve tried many to find the perfect one. Our vegan brownies contain cocoa powder, sugar, gluten-free flour, vanilla extract, vegetable oil, almond milk and of course, vegan dark chocolate.
Do your brownies contain nuts?
Our Peanut Butter, Fruit & Nut, Snickers & Nutella Blondie brownies contain nuts. Only our Peanut Butter and Snickers brownies contain peanuts. Please note however that all our brownies are produced in a kitchen that uses nuts, so it’s possible that they may contain nut traces.
Are your brownies dairy-free?
Our standard range of brownies are not dairy-free, but our range of vegan brownies are!
It’s important to make sure there are enough brownies for everyone - they’ll never forgive you otherwise!
How big is each brownie?
Each standard brownie is approximately 7cm x 5cm and weighs around 70 grams. For comparison purposes a Costa Coffee gluten-free chocolate brownie is 60 grams.
How many do your brownie slabs/boxes serve?
Our standard 1 Flavour Brownie Gift Boxes come in a choice of serving sizes - 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 or 16. Most of the other gift boxes are available in a choice of quantities too - 8, 10, 12 or 16. Bitesize Brownie Boxes come in a range of serving options - 12, 24, 36 and 48 - depending on which box type you choose. Our Brownie Slabs are available in regular or large sizes - regular serves 6 and large serves 16. Brownie Stacks can be purchased in a range of sizes from 12 to 64 depending on your choice and requirements.

Are brownies healthy?
Brownies contain lots of delicious chocolate, sugar and butter, so they should be a treat. All our homemade brownies are free from gluten, which we believe makes them healthier than most, however we would still suggest they are eaten as part of a well-balanced diet.
As with everything we do, a lot of care is taken with the packaging and delivery of our brownies to ensure you receive yours in perfect condition. They’re easy on the eye and the tastebuds!
How can I order brownies by post?
Simply browse our online store and select which brownies you’d like to order. Once you’ve completed your purchase we’ll get your brownies shipped to you on your selected delivery date.
How are the brownies shipped?
All our brownies are internally wrapped with our beautifully branded baking paper to keep them fresh. They are then carefully secured with ribbons and tags before being placed in an external cardboard postal box and protected by decorative shredded paper to keep them safe during their journey. Our standard delivery method is DPD’s fully tracked service.
When will my brownie order arrive?
You can select your preferred delivery date when placing your order. Orders placed before 3pm will be available for dispatch the next working day, with delivery taking place the day after that 99.8% of the time.
All DPD services are fully trackable online and come with email and text alerts so you can follow the progress of your delivery. If you’re not going to be in you can choose from a number of options online, such as leaving your delivery in a safe place, leaving it with a neighbour or rescheduling for another day.
I need my order extra quickly. Are there any other options?
There are delivery upgrade options available at the checkout. If none of these options work for you, please get in touch via contact page or our social media channels and we’ll be happy to discuss your requirements. We'll always do our very best to help.
Can I order brownies now for a later date?
Of course. When you order brownies online from us, you will be asked to enter a delivery date when ordering so you can enter a date as far into the future as you like. Your brownies will not be delivered until that date.
Can I collect my brownies from you directly?
Yes, we’re happy to arrange for you to collect your order from our premises in Hook if that is your preference. You can either purchase through our online store (by using the discount code 'COLLECT' at checkout) or get in touch via the contact page or our social media channels. We will contact you on your selected collection date as soon as your order is ready.
Do you deliver internationally?
We can deliver internationally using DPD’s international network, however, there will be an additional cost for this and delivery times will of course be longer. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

My brownies are a gift. How do I personalise a gift tag?
All our products that are available as a gift have a clear option to 'Make it a gift' on the product page. Once selected you can type in your personalised message and this will be added to a gift tag and included in the box for the recipient.
