Award winning brownies!

We were absolutely thrilled to find out earlier this month that we had received 2 Great Taste Awards from The Guild of Fine Food in their 2022 awards!  Both our Triple Chocolate Brownie and Coffee Caramel Brownie were given the prestigious Great Taste 1-star award!

For those not familiar with the Great Taste awards, the Great Taste is the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink accreditation scheme.  All entries to the awards are tested by a panel of 500+ experts consisting of chefs, buyers, food writers and retailers.  There are 3 awards available, ranging from the 1-star award to the 3-star award and over 14,000 products were entered into the 2022 awards.

We previously entered 1 product in the Great Taste awards back in 2020 and received some very encouraging feedback, most notably one of the judges said "With some moderate tweaking, this could easily become a star rated product."  With the judging window falling right in the middle of our unit move in 2021 we decided to skip the process last year, but entered a few customer favourites this year and couldn't be more chuffed with our 2 awards!

Here's exactly what the judges had to say:

Triple Chocolate Brownie

"Good colour and appearance of white chocolate pieces inside. The texture is buttery and this gives a really full flavour of chocolate, but not too rich. The sweetness is well balanced with a pinch of salt to enhance the overall flavours which go well together. Delicious."

"This is an attractive looking brownie with drizzled white and dark chocolate on top. The flavour delivers good levels of chocolate and salt and is nicely baked with a crunchy top."

Coffee Caramel Brownie

"Well presented, this brownie looks enticing with white chocolate flakes on top. The combination of a crunchy top and soft base works well. The overall flavour is delicious and moreish, with the caramel and coffee tastes coming through."

"First impression are of a well-crafted brownie. The brownie cuts well and holds its shape pleasingly. Coffee flavours are dominant and forward, but nicely tempered and balanced by the chocolate. It has an excellent crust and well decorated. On eating, the 'fudginess' is obvious, and pleasing to the bite. Moisture levels are well balanced."

As well as our 2 award-winning entries we received some great feedback on our other entries and look forward to putting that to good use by improving our products, and creating some new ones, in time for next year's awards!

For the time being though, we're very happy to now be able to call our brownies award-winning and will be proudly displaying our Great Taste bunting on our stand at upcoming events!  You will also note the familiar Great Taste logo labels on all our pre-packed brownies for our award-winning flavours moving forwards.  

We recently exhibited with The Guild of Fine Food at The Hampton Court Flower Show and will be exhibiting again with them at The Spirit of Christmas (at Olympia in London) in early November, so please do pop along and see us along with lots of other exciting producers!
